If there’s one celebrity we’d go to for the answers to all things southern, it’s Reese Witherspoon. From her “Totes Y’all” Draper James line to her portrayal of June Carter Cash, the Tennessee-raised actress and businesswoman knows her stuff. It makes perfect sense then that she’d eventually come out with a lifestyle book focused on her southern roots.

Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up in the South Taught Me About Life, Love, and Baking Biscuits will be in stores this fall, and according to Reese’s Instagram, she’ll be “spill[ing] the tea on Southern living: food, beauty, decor, you name it.” That includes sharing her grandma Dorothea’s fried chicken recipe, as well as a cheddar biscuit recipe and tutorials on things like how to hot-roller your hair and the best way to start a book club.
“My Southern heritage informs my whole life, and spreading the gospel of Southern living has become sort of an obsession of mine,” Reese wrote on the book’s website. “I bring the South everywhere I go with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.”
To promote the book, Reese is embarking on a eight-city book tour this fall, and one particular stop will MAKE. YOUR. DAY.
The last city on the list is Waco, Texas, where Reese will speak at Chip and Joanna Gaines‘ Magnolia Market. And since Reese said there will be a special guest at each stop, we have to assume Joanna will make an appearance on tour. We need this friendship in our lives ASAP. 🙏
Along with the Texas stop, Reese will visit the following cities this fall:
- September 17 — New York, NY, The Town Hall Theatre
- September 18 — Charleston, SC, Gaillard Center
- September 19 — Charlotte, NC, Belk Theatre
- September 20 — Birmingham, AL, Alabama Theatre
- September 21 — Louisville, KY, Whitney Hall
- September 22 — Washington, DC, The Anthem
- September 23 — Nashville, TN, The Schermerhorn Symphony Center
- September 27 — Waco, TX, Magnolia Market
Tickets for each event are available online, and her new book can be pre-ordered now, so you’ll be among the first to get it after it’s released September 18.
