How/where are you celebrating your birthday and with whom? "It will be a low-key celebration with my favorite people — Geoff, Annabelle, Olivia and of course Elliot the Cat. I’m still recovering from last year’s big birthday extravaganza. So this year it’s just about my kids getting extra dessert and me getting extra champagne!"
How did you get your start in your career? "It is the classic tale — I started answering phones in a congressional office — and it’s been a series of great opportunities since then — including stops at trade associations, consultancies, House and Senate leadership. All were great stops along my path and collectively they’ve afforded me experiences that have gotten me to the place I am now, which is pretty great."

What’s an interesting book/article you’re reading now or finished? And why? "I am a little late to it, but I just finished reading ‘The Shadow of the Wind.’ A fantastic, suspenseful summer read that was recommended to me by my awesome book club — a fantastic group of whip-smart D.C. women with great taste in wine, books, food and friends."
What is a trend going on in the U.S. or abroad that doesn’t get enough attention? "That at a macro level, the world we live in is fascinating and wonderful. We live in a time of unprecedented prosperity, innovation, success and safety — yet it often seems like everyone is upset or focused only on the worst things happening in our world, which are far outweighed by the many positive things that take place each and every day. And scooters — people love electric scooters!"
What’s a fun fact that people in Washington might not know about you? "September 13th is not only my birthday, but it is also one of my childhood best friend’s — we have celebrated nearly every birthday together including once at a Debbie Gibson concert! But the 13th is also her son’s birthday and my twins tried really hard to make it theirs too."
