Festival Pass for Thursday, Sept. 13
It’s a very busy festival weekend — like all of them will be through November at this point — but down in Del Mar, Kaaboo kicks off its fourth year with the Foo Fighters, Robert Plant, Katy Perry and more.
I covered the first one in 2015 and a few things always stick in my mind about it. First, I remember that it helped me get a graphic of festival amenities with a toilet icon and a port-a-potty icon into the paper. Yes, I did serious reporting on music festival toilet situations.
But at the festival, I remember Kelli Skye Fadroski and I watched No Doubt together, realizing in the moment that we might have been witnessing the last No Doubt show EVER. The band hasn’t played a show together since. Totally wild.
More than just music: Now that it’s time for Kaaboo 2018, Kelli has some picks for what you should eat, see and do at the festival. Yes, one of those things is getting an IV of nutrients if you partied too hard at the fest.
Go all night: The granddaddy of all of Southern California’s EDM massives, Nocturnal Wonderland, returns this weekend. Find your furry boots and load up your arms with kandi because it’s time to dance in Devore.
And now for a little something extra…Here are three must-reads on entertainment, culture and events we think you might like.
- Feel like drinking beer out of a giant stein and doing the Chicken Dance? Check out this list of Oktoberfest celebrations in Southern California.
- Jon Taffer revealed “Bar Rescue” secrets and what he looks for when he goes out to a bar or restaurant.
- We got a behind-the-scenes look at the ew mazes coming to Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights (try to say that 10 times fast).
