Damascus Citizens for Sustainability, celebrating its 10th anniversary, was founded in late 2007 to alert the local community and the country to the dangers of hydraulic fracturing (fracking). The organization has worked to educate people worldwide about the preservation of pristine water and its crucial impact on health. Josh Fox’s internationally acclaimed movie “Gasland” is dedicated to DCS.
The benefit will celebrate art and the artists of the region who have worked to create awareness of unique character of the Delaware River, and will raise funds for DCS’ legal efforts to defend the prohibition of fracking in the Delaware River watershed region.
The mission of Citizens for Water is to celebrate the beauty and purity of the Delaware River Watershed.
