How to reach Ziro?
The quickest and more reliable way to get to Ziro by air is by taking a flight to the Guwahati Airport, which is some 450 km from Ziro. Flights to this airport are regular, and you can then take a taxi to reach Ziro that is another 12 hours by road from here.
Those interested in taking the train route need to take a train to Naharlagun Railway Station, which is at a 3 hour drive from Ziro. Taxis are easily available from here to the town.
How to get Inner Line Permit and Protected Area Permits for Ziro?
For starters, all visitors to Ziro would need the Inner Line Permit (ILP); foreign nationals would need a Protected Area Permit (PAP). Both the permits can be acquired from the Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Offices that operate from all the major Indian cities. ILP can also be obtained online by visiting the Arunachal ILP website; tourism offices at the Guwahati Airport and Naharlagun Railway Station. Do note that you would be needing passport-sized photos and ID proofs to procure any of the two permits.
