Travel restrictions on stretch of I-78 the week of October 21



Travel restrictions will be in place on stretches of I-78 the week of October 21, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission said in a release.

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ – The I-78 Bridges and Approach Slabs Rehabilitation Project’s scheduled travel restrictions for the week of October 21 is as follows:

I-78 Westbound – From Exit 3 in Pohatcong, N.J. (Phillipsburg/Routes 22 & 173 Interchange) to mile post 77 in Williams Township, PA (611 Underpass).
•    Rolling line-striping crew with protection provided by attenuator trucks 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, to Thursday, Oct. 25; no lane closures but motorists are urged to exercise caution.
•    One-lane travel pattern (two of three lanes closed) OVERNIGHTS 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (next day) Monday, Oct. 22 through Thursday, Oct. 25.
•    Two-lane travel pattern (one of three lanes closed) 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 25 .

I-78 Eastbound – From mile post 77 in Williams Township, PA (611 Underpass) to Exit 3 in Pohatcong, N.J. (Phillipsburg/Routes 22 & 173 Interchange).

•    Two-lane travel pattern (one of three lanes closed) 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 25.

Morgan Hill Road Bridge – Overpass across I-78 in Williams Township, PA.
•    Intermittent single-lane closures with travel maintained in each direction at all times 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 25.

Carpentersville Road Bridge – Overpass across I-78 in Pohatcong, N.J.
•    Alternating single-lane travel with traffic controlled by flaggers 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 25.

Edge Road Bridge – Overpass across I-78 in Pohatcong, N.J.
•    Alternating single-lane travel with traffic controlled by flaggers 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 25.

The scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency, traffic, and project mobilization considerations.  Motorists are urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations, to reduce speeds, and to exercise caution when travelling through project work areas.
