Flo Nation 252 Festival raises money for displaced students and teachers

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) – The Flo Nation 252 Music & Beer Festival was held Sunday in Beaufort.

The event was the idea of Grey Saviston who was able to pull the festival together in just a matter of weeks.

It was all after the Carteret County Public School Foundation posted a challenge on Facebook to help raise money for students and teachers displaced by Hurricane Florence.

In return, Saviston posted a challenge of his own.

"We sent a post out on Facebook to challenge some of my band people to come together and volunteer their time," said Saviston.

Nearly 20 bands responded. The list was whittled down to six bands along with several local brewing companies, restaurants and volunteers all to help make the event a success.

"All the money raised will go straight to the foundation," said Taylor McCune, a volunteer.

The proceeds will be used to provide shelter and buy supplies for impacted students and teachers.
