While Black Friday traditionally marked the beginning of the holiday shopping season, the Internet has transformed the way that we hunt for bargains. A recent study conducted by RetailMeNot in partnership with Forrester Consulting found that 77 percent of shoppers say that discounts influence where they shop. Nearly half of buyers also say that sales speed up their decision-making process, more so than good customer service and the available selection of products.
Sure the allure of Black Friday and Cyber Monday still draw in a large percentage of holiday shoppers. However, Marissa Tarleton, Chief Marketing Officier at RetailMeNot, explains that now retailers cannot rely on one-day doorbusters to drive optimal sales. Now, consumers buy more consistently throughout the two week period leading up to and following Black Friday.
Correspondingly, retailers are looking to breakthrough the tons of sales offered during these peak promotional days and, with consumers becoming increasingly sophisticated and fickle shoppers, they will take time to research the products they want to buy to find them at the most favorable price. In the modern consumer landscape, November 1st marks the true start to the holiday shopping season. This trend is even more apparent amongst higher-end brands, which, unlike their mass-market counterparts, tend to run their discount offers earlier in the season.
So, why wait for Black Friday discounts for a great deal? Here are three of this season’s hottest trends that are on sale now.
