Boston Business Leaders Share Their Five Favorite Local Events For Networking

Building a business can’t be done from behind a computer screen alone. Often, the only way to forge new connections and learn of upcoming opportunities is to go outside of your own company and interact with other industry leaders.

Attending industry events can open up relevant networking opportunities within your business niche. After attending multiple events, you may even become known as an expert in your field and pick up referrals from those you’ve networked with.

Local events are clearly an excellent way to ground your business in the community while also expanding relationships, visibility and scope. Below, five members of Forbes Boston Business Council share their top local events in Boston for networking with business owners, operators, potential partners and peers.

1. HUBweek

We always look forward to attending HUBweek, which showcases the most creative minds across disciplines making an impact in Boston and around the world. Founded by the Boston Globe, Harvard University, MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital, it is a powerhouse week of events that is not to be missed! – Nicole Polletta, The Art of Change

2. BostInno, Boston Business Journal Events

BostInno and the Boston Business Journal both put on a number of social events and award opportunities that bring a fun and competitive spirit to the community. As we are all so deep into work and what we can do for our audience and potential customers, sometimes we forget to come up for air and see what the industry is accomplishing and how innovative our city really is. – Moritz Kothe, Kununu

3. Boston Club’s Corporate Salute

I look forward to the Boston Club’s Corporate Salute. There are always interesting speakers, they provide an overview of how women are progressing in getting to the C-Suite and on corporate boards, and it is great for networking. – Debbie Millin, Globalization Partners

4. Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit

In our space, one of the top local events is the Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit, which brings together a great cross-section of leaders from different parts of the industry — investors, health IT companies, health systems, members of government and more. We’re proud to be part of the digital transformation in health care and it’s exciting to be around fellow attendees helping to drive it. – Graham Gardner, Kyruus

5. Chamber Of Commerce’s Pinnacle Awards

The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Awards, in January, honors women business leaders across a number of categories. Meaningful content and fantastic networking add up to a powerful luncheon with lasting impact. As a former honoree, I know how meaningful it is to be on that podium, but it’s equally meaningful to hear the winners’ remarks and be surrounded by the positivity in the room. – Sandy Lish, The Castle Group
