We gave volunteer coordinator Mimi Shewchuk, 47, a head-to-toe makeover. This week features her new hair and makeup look.
Mimi Shewchuk, 47, is a volunteer coordinator and mom of three grown kids. She’s had the same hairstyle for several years and was ready for an update.
We gave her a head-to-toe transformation and broke her makeover up into two parts. This week features her new hair and makeup look, and next week will be geared toward her wardrobe style; you won’t want to miss it!
Mimi has very thick and wavy hair. It was previously highlighted and her colour maintenance was only twice per year. Her colour was fading, looking brassy and one dimensional. I apply face-framing weave highlights foils around her face for brightness and throughout the rest of her hair I applied both highlights and lowlights for depth.
I used a neutral medium-brown permanent colour to her background foundation to create a shadowy effect and to really make her eyes pop. I refined her blonde using an ammonia-free colour refinement in a beige-blonde. This product adds lustre and shine, it conditions the hair and blends out her previous blonde colour with her new colour, making it cohesive.
I shampooed her hair with KMS Colour Vitality Blonde to enhance blonde tones and reduce yellowing. I sectioned her hair inter a central vertical parting and began cutting her hair into a directional one-length long bob. Because of the thickness of her hair, I wanted the weight of the hair to be distributed slightly forward for easy of style and manageability. I incorporated internal layers to eliminate weight and bulk, and added layers for softness and easy styling options.
Before styling, I applied a KMS Moist Repair Revival Crème to the ends of her hair, as a leave-in conditioner. I added an egg size amount of KMS Add Volume Styling Foam for long lasting style and hold. I blow dried her hair using a round brush to create a soft and bouncy finish. I used curing wand to create her soft waves and finished with KMS ThermaShape 2-in-1 Spray, for heat protection, lightweight hold and shine.
Mimi’s makeup routine is very simple and hardly ever wears eye makeup. I started by evening out her complexion with a lightweight foundation. I then contoured her face with bronzer and ever so lightly filled in her brows.
On her eyes, I used a plum eye pencil and smudged it out onto her entire eyelid, creating a soft smoky finish to enhance her hazel-green eyes. I contoured her eyes with a plum-brown shadow, curled her lashes, and coated them with black mascara. On her lips I used a soft pink lipstick and dusted her cheeks with a dusty-rose blush.
