DALLAS — A Christmas home decorating contest sponsored by Dallas Township will again bring the light and color of the season to the Back Mountain.
Embodying the event’s motto of “Be festive, be creative, have fun,” the annual tradition brings many area residents to the area to view the festive displays after a day of holiday shopping or a family dinner.
Dallas Borough and Dallas Township residents can choose to decorate their entire house or just their front door, according to organizer Brenda Pugh.
Members of the Back Mountain Bloomers will judge the entries from curbside, including window décor that can be seen from the street each evening from Dec. 3-6.
Contest winners will be announced at the township’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 8.
Entries will be judged on originality, unique design and creativity; arrangement, placement and arrangement of decorations; theme or story line and overall presentation.
An honorable mention will be awarded for “best neighborhood.”
“The Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Decorating Contest is an old-fashioned celebration bringing our community together and will, hopefully, continue for many years to come,” said Pugh.
To Pugh, the community-building event builds community and provides the perfect setting for holiday celebrations.
“We hope to light up Dallas,” she said.
Deadline for registering for the contest is Nov. 26.
