Kate Moss admits encroaching middle age and a growing maturity has helped her strike the healthy balance she lacked at the height of her modelling career.
The Croydon born star, plucked from obscurity and pushed into the limelight after being discovered at the tender age of 14, has turned her back on the wild nights that epitomized her jetsetting youth… at least to a certain extent.
‘I’ve learned to take care of myself a bit more,’ Kate, 44, tells the December/January edition of Harper’s BAZAAR. ‘I do yoga every day. I don’t go out nearly as much. And I take care of my skin, which somehow has held up.

‘The bad things I have done usually take their toll, and I’ve been quite lucky in that respect, but you have to put in the work.’
Kate’s newfound stability is offset by a surprisingly relaxed approach to her appearance and beauty regime, with the star admitting she has no desire to be consumed by her image.
‘I think it helps that I don’t take myself too seriously,’ she said. ‘You don’t want to be a slave to beauty.
‘Don’t get me wrong, I love beauty products more than ever—as you get older, you have more to hide—but I’m not obsessed.

‘Even when I’m going out, I still find it hard to wear false eyelashes and stuff. Sometimes [makeup artist] Pat McGrath will be like, “Come on, darling, let’s put a lash on you,” but I would never put one on myself.’
The supermodel spoke to the publication while posing for a glamorous new shoot, conducted by Norwegian fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø.

A second shot find the supermodel reclining in a tasteful evening dress from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, while a third captures her striking a coquettish pose in Salvatore Ferragamo dungarees.
The shoot comes as Kate looks back at what has been a stellar modelling career, during which she rose to prominence with close friends Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.
But while her success is equal to that of her peers, she admits it’s hard to believe she was able to make a name for herself as a model.

‘I never could compare myself to those girls,’ she explained. ‘I wasn’t five foot eleven, I wasn’t built like they were. I was always different, and that’s why I got booked.
‘For Lila [her 16-year-old daughter] and her friends, it’s hard because it’s all there on the phone, the Kardashian factor, it’s in their face much more than it was for us.’
She added: ‘It’s instant inspiration but also instant judgment. But she has seen me, and I’m not obsessed with myself, so hopefully that will rub off.’
