Just a few short months ago, the General Hospital fandom was rooting for Kiki Jerome, taking on a male-dominated system in which women in America are made to feel like objects and not like actual human beings.
We cringed just a little when Kiki had that drunken one-night stand with Griffin (Matt Cohen), knowing if and when that came out, it wouldn’t look good for her #MeToo case.
But, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) made it work, explaining women can have sex, we just have the right to choose who we have sex with.
At that point, we also learned Hayley Erin was ready to leave the soap and figured Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva) might kill her.
But, he then disappeared off the face of the GH earth, and we thought maybe Kiki would just leave town.
Maybe it was time for Dillon to decide he wanted her after all, and she’d fly off into the sunset into his arms.
And when she returned, she’d be played by Kristen Alderson, a young woman ABC soap fans watched grow up before our eyes — and also the actress who created the role of Kiki when ABC lost the rights to Starr Manning.
But, that was never to be. By the time Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) decided he worshipped the ground Ava (Maura West) walked on, we figured Kiki would be the “major character victim” that all soap serial killer stories must have as a pre-requisite.
