(CBS) – A record number of people are expected to travel this holiday season.
According to a new report from AAA, 112,000,000 people will travel more than 50 miles this year.
AAA's Tamra Johnson said this was the seventh straight year that travel between December 22 and January 1 will reach a new high.
102,000,00 drivers will be on the road this year, which is up 4% from last year. 7,000,000 people will fly, which is also up 4% from last year.
AAA said the busiest days to fly will be December 22, December 23 and December 26.
Flying during the holidays also means higher prices. The average cost for a ticket on the busiest days is nearly $600 roundtrip.
To make the most of your holiday travel, AAA suggests drivers check the weather before they head out and have an emergency kit in the car. Fliers should check for delays before they leave home and arrive at least two hours early to the airport.
